Three layers, bonded as one
Three fabrics — a face, a membrane, and a backing — laminated into one continuous piece. One fabric, doing three jobs.

Outer Face Fabric
Treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) that sheds rain and blocks wind while taking the abrasion — pack straps, rock, brush. The layer that meets the weather first.

Middle Membrane
The functional core. A waterproof-breathable film that blocks external water droplets while letting internal sweat vapor escape — keeping you dry from both directions.

Inner Backing
A tricot knit that shields the membrane from body oils and abrasion, and lets the shell glide over your layers instead of grabbing them. No clammy face-fabric feel.
